Why store funding and customer payments are separate
A practical explanation of prepaid wholesale funds, customer gateway settlements and cash-flow planning for an eSIM store.
Two transactions with different owners
A customer pays your merchant account for a retail order. Your store pays the wholesale cost from its prepaid platform balance. The customer settlement schedule does not automatically replenish that balance.
Settlement timing matters
A payment provider may settle later than the order is fulfilled. Keep enough wholesale funds to support orders during that interval. Confirm your actual settlement terms with the gateway.
Model a controlled example
For an illustrative $9 sale and $5.50 wholesale cost, the gross spread is $3.50. Processor fees, refunds and support reduce that amount. These example values are not a catalog quotation.
Build an operating routine
Check balance before promotions, reconcile confirmed funding against the ledger and investigate missing credits using the payment reference. Never assume a payment was successful from a return page alone.
